NYC in December, 2023 Day 1
I decided I deserved a vacation in NYC, got a hotel room at the Bowery, which is in the BEST neighborhood. We stayed down the street at the other Bowery this summer, closer to Chinatown and Little Italy - and that was awesome. This one was a tiny room, but I guess I was paying THE EXORBITANT PRICE for the neighborhood. Right next to Orchard Street, where there are some awesome restaurants and bars. Everything is a 5 minute walk.
Wearing my Tata Christiane dress I got in Portland that I can never find an occasion to wear. NYC is definitely a place.
Got the best oysters of my life at Wildair - Meyer lemon vermouth, pickled fennel and artichoke?!?
I wanted to eat at Le French Diner, but it was too tiny and packed for my taste. I kept walking by an Italian restaurant that was adorable, so I stopped there. It was magnificent, like everything else in NY.
Started with a paloma drink, and chickpeas. Who knew I would love every bite - olive oil, I THINK parsley, capers, and green olives. I am going to try to make this at home. Plenty of salt. Ragu pasta. Olive Oil cake with mascarpone whipped cream. Last drink was this mezcal goodness. Then I went to sleep at 9.
